Judicial governance is about who recruits judges and how; who imposes disciplinary sanctions on judges, and how and when; how to administer, manage and finance the judicial branch; and how to ensure judicial independence and efficiency. Models of judicial governance are diverse. The three main models are the judicial council model, the ministry of justice model, and the court service model. There are also some hybrid forms.
