Individual measures can be indicated to the respondent state by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) once the Court finds violations of the European Convention on Human Rights against that state. These are aimed at erasing, as far as possible,the consequences of the violations for the applicants. Individual measures include, for example, the reopening of unfair criminal proceedings, the destruction of information gathered in breach of the right to private life, etc.
