Measures that state authorities have to take to put an end to continuing violations of the European Convention on Human Rights, as identified by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), or prevent similar violations in the future. The adoption of general measures can, notably, imply a change of legislation or of judicial practice, or imply practical measures, such as the refurbishing of a prison, staff reinforcement, etc.
